The math department of P.S.161 & The Crown School for Law and Journalism proud of its accomplishments over the last several years. Mrs. Person, Mr. Habib, Ms. Ferrara, and Mr. Wong all play key roles in making The Crown School a top school in District 17 / Region 6, in the area of mathematics. We owe our success in large part to the wonderfully experienced staff that we work with and to the guidance of our principal.

The secret of our success is very simple - hard work. The children of P.S. 161 are given the tools they need to succeed and the teachers are there to see to it that those tools are used to the maximum. All this works in conjunction with mock tests, test sophistication materials, a tutoring program that focuses on children in need of remediation, and an excellent math program that stresses the goals of the "math standards." This along with the belief that every student can achieve, are all part of the "Math Package" that we have become accustomed to at The Crown School.
