This year, P.S. 161/CSLJ launched a journalism program for students in grades 4 - 8. In addition to learning the basics of news writing and reporting, the students have worked together to produce a monthly newsletter. The students utilize their skills and knowledge of writing book reviews, editorials, and news stories to keep parents, teachers and students up-to-date on trhe latest school news. The newsletter also includes creative writing from students in all grades.

Through donations and fund-raising, the CSLJ news staff hopes to eventually graduate from a one-page newsletter to a full newspaper, which will encompass even more great writing from out students.
