Dear PS161/CSLJ Family,

The executive Board of the PTA was happy to be of service to you during the year 2001-2002. Let us review some of of our pioneering efforts on behalf of our school community during this time:

  • We purchased banners with affirmations that now hang on every floor in our school.
  • We hosted a full day Parent Workshop/Holiday Gift Shop. Parents attended workshops on Gangs and violence, Math and Literacy; while children were entertained by a magician and chaperoned by upper grade students.
  • Families enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and shopping for low cost holiday gifts.
  • The Hispanic community was saluted with a special program during Hispanic Month.
  • A School Song Competition was held, and we now have an official School Song.
  • We were instrumental in bringing representatives from neighboring hospital to do blood pressure monitoring for our staff during staff appreciation week.
  • We purchased an outdoor bulletin board. A delightful unveiling ceremony was held on Wednesday. Our parents can now be kept up-to-date with notices. The Caribbean Life Newspaper will release their coverage of this event in the near future.
  • Congratulations to the Kindergarten, Fifth and Eight grade graduates!

    • We hope all of our students had a successful year. Have a wonderful summer vacation!
